Only if it could be passed and crossed…….

We often hear a saying ‘the future of the country is in the hands of the youths’. How about the future of the youth of today?

In whose hands is the future of these youths?

People will prove that the future of the youth is in the hands of these youth. Our own future should be in our hands. Only if it is free from being overwhelmed, our future can give us mental happiness for the rest of our lives. This is because the manipulator’s wish cannot be the same to ours. Even though it can be the same to us, the standard of thought will be different. Our future is not for the favor of other. Our life should not obey the command of the painting brush that one can use as he or she wishes in this painting world.

Parents worry for everything for their children as parents’ love is so great that cannot be compared with anything. Especially, after thinking enough, they want to manage for the future of their children. Everyone, happily and smilingly, wants to see and proud of his or her children coming as ‘Riding elephant accompanied by horses, and wearing the diamond slipper’ and living as ‘Wealthy with success and fame’. Therefore, parents are used to attempt to manage their children for what they hoped for or according to their ways.

Some parents try to raise their children focusing on their hobbies guiding them a successful and right way. Some parents want to head the children’s future attempting to do as they believe, as they like, as they want, as they think, as they proud of, and as they standard of rather than doing for the children’s hobbies and the possible thinking.

The Buddha’s father, the king, wanted his son, the prince, to be the king, who would control the country having the worldly pleasure. So the prince was let to live in the three seasonal buildings of summer, rain and winter, then persuaded to be the king letting him be entertained so that he could enjoy the pretty ladies with dancing, drinks and luxuries and attempting him not to know the suffering of the world, and old, pain, and death which cause physical suffering. However, the prince firmly decided to be the Buddha and to escape from the round of rebirth-this is his belief and hope that produces strength, courage and perseverance, in other words, this is the strength of the youth and the perseverance of the youth. Then the prince left the palace that was full of worldly pleasure, and went to the forest without any danger.

The prince’s decision and work might be cruel to his great honored and grateful father who fulfilled his wish up to till he became an adult without scorning him. Perhaps, the prince was a fool or a stupid son who did as he wished and the one who did not care his father or he might be a son who insulted his father’s good will although he was taken care well. However, the prince became the most reliable, believable, respectable, peaceful and noble Buddha for all beings in the triloka[1] and he could guide them all including his father showing the way to the end of the round of rebirth. Therefore, till today, people are having good resulted benefit from what he has attempted. In fact, if the prince ‘could not pass and cross’ his father’s overwhelming, manipulating and creating love, kind and good will on his future, he could not be the Buddha and he could be only king having sensual pleasure and wasting his time, all beings in the triloka could not have peace and happiness. This prince’s future or the future of the youth could make the world into great noble change. So can it be wrong if we say the future of the youth is such a great future of the world?

Moreover, the parents of Maung Aung San and Maung Nu wanted their sons to be educated person so they sent them to the university spending much money for them. The people of the country became independence because Maung Aung San and Maung Nu tried their belief very hard with the strength, courage and perseverance. As well as, they only would have become normal learned but national leader, the father of the military and the father of the country or the prime minister walking on the modern way serving the modern duties. Creating their future on their own, the future of the country changed in a new form. In fact, they were the ones who could pass and cross. Therefore, they should be taken as a great sample of the great youths.

It is very important to try for many times for the future of the youth of today to pass and cross the various manipulations for the nation and its people and the wrong sample of the hearts being covered with thousands of the wrong things. To be able to pass and cross, our belief must be cultivated based on our hobbies. Then, for the surviving continuously, our lightening belief together with noble and great ray of hope running with firm decision, calm attitude, bold courage, perseverance and diligence, and being filled with the moral sample for the future, we must successfully walk on the modern way serving the modern duties. If it could not be passed and crossed, our lives will be useless, lost and unvalued for every time  just like doctors who want to be engineers, engineers who want to be football players and the historian professors who want to be pilots, etc.
