Yes, Blue. It sounds that has similar condition with yours. The place where I took picture are mountains. I am really surprised when had journey there. I never go to a place like this before.

In Vietnam, the people who live in the forests or mountains, they also make this kind of house to avoid predators. ^^

I think Indonesia and Thailand have similarity in culture. Did you know that territory of Srivijaya Kingdom cover Indonesia, Cambodia, Southern Thailand, and Malay Peninsula (read in wikipedia).
I did not stay here when it was raining but I think it will be noicy because of the tin roof.
You right Fang, the owner work as farmer. They have wide garden; cocoa, rubber, coffee, tea,etc.
Fang, I feel great because now we aware that Indonesia and Thailand have similar culture.

That sound like some houses in the south of Thailand. 

When I were child I lived in the wooden house. It had a big sound when it was raining. hehe 

What the owner do ?   fruit garden or rubber garden ?

Yesterday I went to South Sumatera to attend wedding party. When I came there, I saw this house. We stayed here to take a rest and eat traditional food for 5 hours. The resident live happily inside, it has many and wide windows.
