Everyday or Every day

Everyday and Every day may sound the same when spoken but they have different meanings. It's quite easy to remember the meanings once you know them!

Everyday

Everyday
is an adjective. It means normal, usual or ordinary. Here are some examples:

  • My mother told me to wear my everyday clothes when I go running.
  • Going to work and sleeping are just parts of everyday life.
  • I met Barack Obama yesterday. That's certainly not an everyday occurrence!

Every day

Every day means the same as each day.

  • You learn something new every day.
  • I wish I could play football every day.
  • It has been raining cats and dogs every day for a month!
