India is a country in the continent of Asia. The capital of India is New Delhi. India has the second largest population in the world; 1.18 billion people live in India. India is a very interesting country; the culture and weather in the north is very different from the south. In the south the weather is tropical, but in the north the weather is much cooler and can get extremely cold in the mountainous alpine regions. The people in India speak over 200 languages! The most common languages are Hindu and English.

Indian Flag

Most people in India are religious; more than 80% of people are Hindu. The most famous tourist attraction in India is the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal was made by an Indian man to remember his wife who had died - it is a symbol of eternal love. In the early part of the 1900s India was part of the British Empire. Peaceful protesters such as Mahatma Gandhi helped the country to gain independence in 1947.

The Taj Mahal

Indians love to play hockey and cricket. Indian people love to eat rice and spicy food. Indians love to take part in yoga. Indians take part in yoga to help make their minds and bodies healthy. Indian women traditionally wear a dress called a sari, a long colourful cloth that is wrapped around the body.

India is truly an amazing country. What we don't expect to exist, can be found here in India.

But if i may add, the Taj Mahal is not only a symbol of love but also a symbol of tyranny. Not only the workers were forced to work under severe conditions, the king also rewarded them buy cutting off their hands. The process of building the Taj Mahal was so devastating that upon hearing the news that the king wanted to build the second one for himself, the Black Taj Mahal, the kings' son conducted a coup and imprisoned his own father. And it was in this prison where the king was forced to look at the Taj Mahal until he die...
