Some days verging on Lunar New Year, many kinds of flowers are moved to flowers markets. The markets are colorful and bright with them.

Flowers are the things that can’t lack in Vietnamese home on New Year. Flowers not only decorate home but also have many important meanings. Some of them, their meanings come from their name so I can't explain clearly the reason why they have these meanings.

1) Chrysanthemum

Meaning: An emblem of life, they bring happiness and fortune to every home.

2)Satsuma

Meaning: Bring mammon and good luck to every member in family.

3) Apricot blossom

Meaning: An emblem of mammom and wealth.

4) Peach blossom

Meaning: Dismiss evil and bring new vitality, health to each home.

5) Narcissus

Meaning: It is a unworldly kind of flowers. It brings mammom to each family

6)Fig-tree

Meaning: Bring plenty to every family.

7) Trang Nguyen flower (I don't know its name in English)

Meaning: Bring to us success and good luck.

And so on....

Some beautiful flowers! I'd love a satsuma tree. Beautiful and lots of delicious fruit!

All of the flowers look pretty. I think homes will look and smell beautiful at this time of year. What does the word mammon mean?

^^ mammon means material wealth.
Teacher, fruits of satsuma are very sour. Sometimes we use them instead lemons to make flavor in some foods.

Thanks Blue. I thought satsumas were sweet! Maybe I have been eaten a different variety of satsuma.
