Great question! I love the song but have never really thought about the name before. I had to do some searching to find the answer.
http://www.funkyenglish.com/video/adele-rolling-in-the-deep - Here are the lyrics.
To roll means to be with friends, trust friends, have friends that are part of your circle. These are people you can rely on. In this context deep means being very close to these group of friends. Deep could possibly mean more in this example. So the song means that Adele is singing about being able to trust someone, to know that someone will always be there for you.
Going by the rest of the song I think Adele has some regrets about her close friend, or at least the person in this song - the person or people she used to roll deep with. What do you think?

That's another interesting possible meaning of these lyrics. Songs can be interpreted in many ways.

Permalink Reply by fang on February 16, 2012 at 15:30 I have never known this song since I read it in Funky English.
After I read teacher comment It let me think of this word " Better late than never " but in this story we can not use it.
I think we should fully recognize the feeling of someone that love you. ( your trust friend, parents , best friend )
I don not know I miss understand for this song meaning or not :(
Ed Inwood ! We have not seen you in Funky English for a long time. How are you ?

I think this song is about regrets. Adele is sorry because she has lost her friends, or they are not as close as they used to be. What do you think Fang?
We could have had it all... is an important phrase. This means that Adele thinks that they could have achieved so much together, done everything together and been everything for each other.

That was a sad story. ><"

Permalink Reply by Ngo Thanh Cong on December 28, 2012 at 3:29 I couldn't agree more, teacher! although I dont understand much about this song, I think that she feels regret about not having good time, not doing good things , not being as close as they could. Now, looking back, wish time had come again, wish not to meet.

Permalink Reply by Tammy on October 5, 2012 at 18:47 I love Adele's songs! I guess 'The 'Rolling in the Deep' is her revenge song to her ex-boyfriend. It looks like she is singing about a kiss off to an unfaithful guy. Maybe she wanted to say in her song what she was going to have for her love but .... oops... it ended up ....
