Everyone who has been to school or university will have studied with many different teachers. In this discussion we'll try and remember our best and worst teachers!

School teacher
Let's talk about:
You don't have to use real names if you don't want to!

Permalink Reply by Blue Peace on March 23, 2012 at 18:52 1) There are three teachers who I extremely admire.
One teacher is a teacher of secondary school. He is not a teacher of my school. He had just taught me for short time. The way he inspires the possitvie emotions in study to us is very good.
Another is my high school teacher. He is strict but he dedicates to his teaching and students. He helped me much in study, he gave me doccuments and books. He is like my second father. The most special thing of this teacher is he always asks us to write our feelings about the class and the ways he taught after a term. This is an occasion for us to write our own feelings. Therefore he understands students clearly. ^^ When we have free time in class he often gives news to us and teaches us many moral lessons such as protect enviroment, be polite with the older, help the poor around us,... though he is a Math teacher.
And at my university, my English teacher impired me. She made me feel English is so interesting. However now I must not study English in her class. I'm so sad ! :(
I can't express my gratitude to them, I just know saying that they are really good teachers.
2) I think I didn't have any terrible teachers. :)
3) My favorite lesson was: "The problem of sharing candies of Eluer". It was very interesting. I always remember my teacher when I see this problem. That is my favorite lesson but the most memorable
4) A good teacher need to have:
- The love for teaching job and teaching skills
- Expertise
- Dedication and understanding students
5) I have many funny stories about my teachers but I can't tell you all. I would tell you one of them. (I don't know whether it is funny with you).
On Vietnamese teacher's Day (20/11/2011), we sang the song "Teacher" to give my Math teacher. He was very emotional but he didn't want to express his feeling. To hide his feeling, he said with a smile on his face : "Thanks for giving me a song and now I give you a 15-minute test and now let's start". We were taken aback by his words. After finishing the test, we knew that he just asked for fun. Perhaps, he kept our tests as mementos. We laughed much....

I really enjoyed reading your reply! Some great stories about your teachers. I think you have been lucky to have such good teachers. I also think the teachers were lucky to have you as a student!
I don't know much about Eluer. Was this a maths lesson?
Your funny story is great! Your teacher has a good sense of humour.

And now I have a good teacher too - teacher Jamie although I have never met you. I think you are a good teacher with all your students.
Yes, this was a Math lesson. It was taught by my favourite teacher. :) It is really an interesting lesson!
:)

When I was sick and don't go outside and stay in the class so he learn me how to take care of flowers. I don't really have terrible teachers. My favorite lesson was English and it was my favorite lesson. The kind of personality that a teacher need to have is to be listenning at the need of each students and to help them to love to learn and to love school but this is a big job. I think that teacher Jamie you are a wonderful teacher and that you are also love teaching. I don't remember any funny stories about my teachers in the classroom, sorry for that but I remember that I was very shy child in school. When I was a child I like to go to school even when it was not always easy each days at school.

Thanks Coco! I can see your art teacher was important for you. It was very good of him to take care of you. Did you study English a lot?
I do love teaching. I am lucky to have the opportunity to be a teacher.
Permalink Reply by coco on March 25, 2012 at 11:21 Yes , my art teacher was very important for me because he was very good for me. Yes, I study English at school until grade 12 and play at that time with English student because at school at that time we have 1 classroom for English student, they were all in the same classroom from grade 1 to 9 and I was always playing with them. Then after finish school I have no contact with English people so I lost my English a lot because I am a French Canadian and not an English Canadian. Have a good Sunday teacher,

Well we are happy to see you using English here! If you keep practising you will soon be speaking English well again. :)
Thank you.
Permalink Reply by coco on March 25, 2012 at 12:39 Thank you Teacher Jamie. :) You are a special teacher and I am sure that your student must adore you. These kind of discussions are great!

Thanks Coco!

Permalink Reply by Johnny Simpson on March 25, 2012 at 8:19 Favourite's have to be Mardon and Babsie.. Or Mr Mardon and Mr Babb. The first was my games teacher and gave me A's in my school reports. Babsie taught me English and had a good teaching manner.
Never had any terrible teachers though there were a few with funny or different habits. BO Birkett because of his interesting odour and shirt armpit colour. 'Beefy' Thomas and his uncontrollable chest hair and 'The Green Goddess' whose name escapes me but she fell asleep in class and snored rather loudly :) .
As you can see, we had nicknames for our teachers, whether they were favourites or not. Is this the same with other schools around the world???
Great days, hahaha.
Favourite lessons were English, games and Geography as it helped my way around the school. And to get home as well, haha.

I don't think my school had nicknames for the teachers. We had some interesting rumours about our teachers. The strangest one was that a teacher had plastic toes. I'm not sure why that was.
I used to like geography too. PE or games was always fun.
You were a teacher - what was your nickname? Did you have one?

Permalink Reply by Johnny Simpson on March 25, 2012 at 14:00 Nickname for me? Not that I know of, though my students would call me 'crazy teacher' from time to time.
I would refer to myself as Aj John Mokjok for the occasional classroom humour.
