Thank you Coco! I agree, it is a wonderful photo!
I think it is a red and green kilt. We call this a check pattern. When we are talking about bagpipes - the bagpipe is the musical instrument and the bagpiper is the man who plays it! In sentence 4 - he wears a green kilt...
This summer I went to supper for the Irish Day and two men wore a green kilt and some people played Irish music. I ate beef stew. Great last sentence! Both the Irish and the Scottish traditionally play bagpipes. Irish beef stew is delicious! Did you like it?
Permalink Reply by coco on August 30, 2012 at 16:10 Thank you very much for the correction, Teacher! Yes, the beef stew was delicious and I like it. . Are you wearing kilt for special occasion, Teacher? Have a nice day!

I've never worn a kilt! My grandfather was Scottish so I'd have to find out which clan he was in! Depending on your clan you have to wear a certain type of kilt.
Permalink Reply by coco on August 30, 2012 at 21:18 Ok, nice. It means that there are many kind of kilt, I already see red check pattern kilt in télévision but the Irish men here wore green check pattern one. It is a traditional suit for men. Are there also a traditional suit for women? There was also a woman playing a harp, is it also traditional for them ? Thank you Teacher...

Permalink Reply by Blue Peace on August 30, 2012 at 18:41 Thanks Gertraud for your photo and thanks teacher for adding this discussion. These are mine:
1) The green lawns bring me a feeling of freshness as I am in a large savannah.
2) The instrumentalist playing Scottish Bagpiper looks like he enjoying cigaret.
3) The dew makes the scenery after his back more blured, however it can't blur the grandeur of the mountains in the distance.
4) The sound of bagpiper must be echoed throughout the space.
5) He looks like a warrior in his cloth.
:) Teacher, can you correct them for me?. Thank you very much!

Thanks Blue! I'm happy to correct them for you. :)
I think for your first sentence we should add if or though to bring the 2 different parts of your sentence together.
The green lawns bring me a feeling of freshness as if I am in a large savannah.
He does look like he is smoking a cigarette! The bagpipes is the name of the instrument, the bagpiper is the man playing the instrument. Your 3rd sentence is very nice! In this example we should use behind his back. ...it can't blur the grandeur of the mountains in the distance. This is just fantastic - a pleasure to read.
You've described the scene and the man playing the bagpipes superbly. :)

1 This man is wearing a kilt and playing the bagpiper.
2 He was standing at a parking place and playing for the tourists. Behind him is Loch Maree a small Scottish lake ( loch).
3 In my opinion it must be very difficult to play a bagpipe.
4 He wears a kilt in blue and green colours. Our travel guide told us that each clan has his own pattern and colours.
5 This summer I traveled through Scotland and I enjoyed the beauty of this country.

Thanks Gertraud! It's a wonderful photo. The man, the scenery and the mist really capture Scotland in one simple photograph.
Your sentences are also very well written. Just remember the bagpipes is the name of the instrument, the bagpiper is the man playing the instrument. I don't know if he has a special name in Scotland?
It must be very difficult to play, You have to squeeze, blow and use your finger. Three things at once!
My grandfather used to be part of a clan (he was Scottish). I will see if I can find out what clan it was!
This summer I traveled through Scotland and I enjoyed the beauty of this country. I can see you had an awesome trip. Thank you for the photos - and the sentences describing this photo!

Permalink Reply by Gertraud Müller on September 2, 2012 at 10:10 Thank's teacher .. Wow your grandfather was Scottish? It would be interesting the name of his clan. The Mac Donalds and the MacKenzies were well known ,were they ?
The calans have played a very important rule in the history of Scotland. Each clan was a large group of people most distantly related to the clan. The chief clan was their head and protector.
Have you ever heard about Inverewe Garden ? It is botanical garden in the scottish highlands. The garden was created in 1862 by Osgood MacKenzie and belongs now to the National Trust for Scotland. The garen is open for tourists and really worth to see it

Thanks Vero! Some great writing again. You have a talent for describing exactly what's on the photo.
There is a middle aged man, Caucasian, he has grey mustache and beard, probably 170 cm tall and still looks dashing. - just a small change to this sentence. Nice use of the word Caucasian - for our members it means somebody that has light skin and originated from Northern Europe. I am a Caucasian, as is the man playing the bagpipes.
In sentence 2 clothing is plural. He's wearing traditional clothing. He is also wearing a big sling belt. ...looks the same as the long fabric that is attached to his left shoulder.
l...ooks like it is made from brunette and blonde hair... This is called a sporran! It can be made from the fur of an animal.
...there are beautiful green fields and hills - don't forget to use there are with plural nouns.
In the movies, they usually play it at a celebration (a party in the kingdom or village where are people dancing and drinking) or at the funeral. Very true! Many people in America are of Scottish or Irish heritage so it's quite common to see it in American movies. Most Scottish movies will also feature a man on bagpipes.
Have you ever heard the bagpipes being played?
