Permalink Reply by coco on March 17, 2012 at 2:44 Is it (I'll be a monkey's aunt ) for a girl? What's mean a monkey smart , is it an intelligent person? I hear that between two people talking together at the store. Is it a slang or an idiom? That make me smile but it was cute to hear. I supose it mean intelligent. Have a nice day teacher Jamie. Monkey smart, hehe, that's nice.
Permalink Reply by coco on March 17, 2012 at 17:29 Hi! I realize what really -I'll be a monkey's uncle - really mean, it's not about a girl or boy. That's an expressing words for everybody. My English level is really low. That 's make me time to understand it. :)

Your English is very good. It's a confusing idiom. It doesn't really make any sense, and has nothing to do with monkeys. A man or a woman can use it, although possibly a woman could say Well I'll be a monkey's aunt!
Permalink Reply by coco on March 18, 2012 at 11:24 Thank you for the explanation. I understand better. Sometimes, idoms or slang cannot be translate in French and also are the same meaning but not the same words. Yes , sometimes it's very confusing. See you teacher. I like reply to discussion when it's not to hard so I take the simple one for now.

Permalink Reply by Una on June 18, 2012 at 13:20 I know this comes from Darwin's the theory of evolution. Right? O(∩_∩)O~

Yes, it is from this time. Many religious people did not (and many still don't) believe that the theory of evolution was true. The saying was a sarcastic remark from the non-believers.
