Halloween is an annual holiday celebrated on the 31st October. Halloween was started by a group of people called the Celts over 2000 years ago. The Celts believed that summer ended on the 31st October every year and that on this night ghosts and spirits would visit the living. People would dress up as ghosts and scary people so that the real ghosts would not touch them! Halloween is popular nowadays in many countries around the world, especially Great Britain, Ireland, USA and Canada.

Pumpkin Head!

There are many different ways to celebrate Halloween!

  • Jack-o'-lantern - A pumpkin is carved with a frightening face. A candle is placed inside so that the face flickers and shines at night.
  • Trick or treat - Children dress up as ghosts or in some other costume. They visit local houses and knock on doors saying, "Trick or treat!" The treat is usually candy or chocolate. If there is no treat the children can play a funny trick on the owner of the house! Most of the time candy is given to the children and everyone is happy.
  • Costume parties - People love to dress up in crazy costumes and have parties! Popular costumes for people include ghosts, zombies, witches and monsters!

Happy Halloween!

Teacher ! how about u ? How to celebrate Halloween night ?

What would you dress up as ?

Why people use the pumpkin in this day ?

I won't have a Halloween party this year, I have to go to school tomorrow and teach! There were some parties in town at the weekend. They looked fun. I think I would dress up as a zombie! That would be scary.

I think pumpkins are used for Halloween because they are very common and easy to carve. I've seen some very scary looking pumpkins at Halloween!

Thank you teacher !

Haha ! same me :) but i have to work.

I have never seen the pumpkins were carve for Halloween :(

I guess the pumpkins are easy to fine in USA and English and we can store too many pumpkins.

It would be nice to see people in Thailand dressing up for Halloween parties as Thai ghosts. There are many types of ghost to choose from, for instance;

1) Phee Kra-sue:  a female ghost that floats around with her head and intestine.

2) Phee Kra-hung: a half-naked male ghost that uses threshing baskets to fly.

And even

3) Phee Tuk-kae: a gecko ghost.

Right now it's really nice, a little cold and completely dry. There's no rain at the moment. The weather is shifting to winter.

The weather is autumn , right ?

How about your hours in Bkk ? It is effected by flood ?

Yes, I guess we could call it autumn. That's the season when summer is changing to winter right?

I have no idea about my house... hope it isn't flooded.
