Welcome to the sixth Funky English giveaway activity! I've really enjoyed reading your responses so far, I hope there are lots of interesting responses again this week! This one follows on nicely from last week, where we discussed our favourite song.
This week I would like you to:
1. Name your favourite movie. It doesn't have to be an English language movie, but if not please describe it to us in English.
2. Tell us why you like that movie.
3. (If you can find one) Post a video of the trailer or a small clip from the film, or a movie poster.
That's it! I will go first....
1. One of my favourite films is Casablanca.
2. I have watched this numerous times and enjoy it every time! I like the story, and believe it is timeless. That is, even though the film was made 70 years ago, the story is still very relevant today. I also think Humphrey Bogart, who played one of the main characters, was fantastic in this film!
3.
I like this scene mainly for the music! Whenever I hear this song, I picture this scene.

A great discussion Simon! Thank you. I've not watched Casablanca for years! I'll have to borrow it from you. :)
I'm going to choose a comedy as my favourite movie.
Zoolander (2001)
1. My favourite movie is Zoolander.
2.I like Zoolander because it makes me laugh! Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are extremely funny in this movie. They play a pair of male supermodels who compete against each other in order to be the world's top model. This is a very silly comedy with some great actors.
3. Here is a very funny clip from the movie:

They are awesome actors. It's just a great movie to watch if you need a laugh!

It's hard to understand the context without watching the whole movie Cong! You should watch it if you get the chance.
Zoolander wants to open a school to teach people English! He names the school - Derek Zoolander Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good And Who Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too. Would you like to study at a school with a name like this? :)

Permalink Reply by Ngo Thanh Cong on October 24, 2012 at 4:21 what a weird name, haha, well I think I'm gonna try a few weeks before entering this school :)) sometimes the craziness will help me wash away all the stresses...:)

Permalink Reply by Tammy on October 22, 2012 at 20:24 Unfortunately, I haven't seen this movie. But I know Casablanca. is one of the best known movies in the world. I like oldies, they are classic and bring memories of childhood. I think this film is worth watching. Thanks for this new great discussion Simon!

Permalink Reply by Ngo Thanh Cong on October 23, 2012 at 7:02 "Casablanca" I dont know that it was a film. I'm very surprised actually, :) . I thought it was a song written long time ago and very sad. I just remember the tune, about the lyric, I dont understand anything.. ~.~! Sometimes I play this tune with my guitar and really enjoy it. I'd like to be able to get the message of this song, could you just sum it up for me in a few sentences? :) thank you :)

*Spoiler alerts!*
The film Casablanca is a love story set in the city of Casablanca in Morocco, during the second world war. The plot is based somewhat around a love triangle, although probably not in the traditional way. Rick Blaine previously dated a woman called Ilsa, but she left him in Paris. He moves to Casablanca and runs a popular bar, and can help people leave Morocco and fly to America. Later, Ilsa turns up in Casablanca with her husband Victor Laslzo, a resistance leader and war-time hero. The story is then based on Rick attaining two transit visa's to travel to America, and it is unclear if Rick will give the couple the two tickets or if he will use them himself and take Ilsa with him. I won't summarise the ending, in case you have the chance to watch the film one day :)

Nice one Simon. It sounds good. I must watch it!

I love this scene very much!!!! Bethoween, Symphony No.7:)))

I really enjoyed this movie too. The subject does not sound particularly interesting but the film is so well made. Colin Firth is a great actor.
