May: What do you want for dinner?
Cindy: I'll just have a chip butty! I haven't got time to cook anything because I'm going out in 15 minutes.
Butty is English slang for a sandwich. A chip butty is a sandwich filled with English chips.
British English and American English have different names for potato snacks!
Fried potato snack (Lays, Walkers): British English - Crisps - American English - Chips
Hot fried (thin) potatoes (Like you get in McDonald's or with fish 'n' chips): British English - Chips - American English - French fries
Seem Thai people use English language mixing between American English and British English style. Good that we know which word from American English and which word from British English.
I've only really heard Thai people use the American way for potato snacks! I guess that is because of McDonald's and Lays.
Yummy Yummy ! I want to taste a chip butty @@
It's very delicious. I like it with lots of vinegar and some mayonnaise.
yes, because of McDonald's and Lays we here use the American way. i don't buy chips and don't go to the McDonald's but i know these things are very tasty, thought:)
Delicious and very unhealthy! I try not to eat fast food often, but sometimes I get a craving for it!
I imagine how we should open our mouth to nip it!!!
